Setting the theme for the day, our ride started with a short but very steep hill out of Port Campbell. It was cold, windy and raining, so we had our fluoro waterproof gear on. This made us stand out against the grey backdrops in today's photos.
We rode all the way from Port Campbell to Lavers Hill on the Great Ocean Road. Our first stop was at Muttonbird Island lookout.

From there it was a short ride to the Razorback, also in the Loch Ard Gorge area.

The coastal formations around the Razorback were impressive.

Moving on from the Razorback |
We moved on from the Razorback to the Twelve Apostles, making sure we were on the correct side of the road.

At the Twelve Apostles, we walked our bikes to the viewing area, and took a few photos of the iconic attraction.

We were asked to dismount, so we did. |

And a few other photos as well |
There is a kiosk at the Twelve Apostles, and we had our morning tea of coffee and a home-made cheese roll there.

Leaving the Twelve Apostles |
 |
Making a home-made cheese roll - the food options at the kiosk were limited, and there was no seating inside or out |
After this break, we wrung the water out of our gloves and resumed the ride. The road on from the Twelve Apostles was gently undulating, for a short while at least, and we rode through intermittent showers with the aid of a strong tailwind.

A couple of interested spectators |
After a while the road turned inland to head up to Lavers Hill. There was beautiful scenery all around. The up and down undulations turned into up and up climbing - challenging but rewarding.

On the way to Lavers Hill - we had left the sea far behind us |
Our friends Simon and Judy caught us up shortly before we arrived in Lavers Hill. Judy managed to take the following photos of us in action. Slow-motion action, as we were still going uphill.

After settling in to our accommodation, we enjoyed an excellent meal at the local restaurant, The Perch.
