DAY 17 - LANCEFIELD to SEYMOUR
After breakfast at the Lancefield Guest House, we stocked up on provisions for the day at the Lancefield Providore and the Lancefield Bakery. Then we packed our bags and headed off to Seymour.

The road to Seymour proved surprisingly scenic. At least it was a surprise to us- we're sure it's not a surprise to locals, or indeed anyone who has travelled it. There were some uphills, of course - there are always uphills.

But the views from the road made the climbing worthwhile.

It wasn't long before we were in Pyalong, settling in to our traditional lunch.

Light rain set in after lunch, and we only had one more rest stop on the way to Seymour.

After checking in to our motel in Seymour, we went out to explore the sights of the town. We found the masonic hall, where we cast our votes for next week's election.

We visited the Vietnam Veterans Commemorative Walk, and found Kath's dad's name among those memorialised.

The last stop before retiring for the night was the Seymour hospital. There was a war memorial there, but (alas!) no plaque commemorating significant people who were born there many years ago.

Day 17 - Route |
Hi Kath and Russell,
ReplyDeleteI've just caught up with your blog. Particularly enjoying your scenery, bird and cake/pastry photography. Your tour brought back a lot of memories of places we've visited over the years. We've just returned from 5 days at Dinner Plain (nr Mt Hotham) with my sister and brother-in-law were we did a lot of bush walking and, amazingly, managed to miss the hail and snow. On the way back we noted a very pretty looking bike trail that seemed to more or less follow the Great Alpine Road from Harrietville to Bright (and thence to Wang I assume). Looks nice if done in the downhill direction!
Looking forward to catching up in person and hearing more about your travels later in the month,
cheers
Murray and Sandra
Glad you're enjoying the blog and that you enjoyed good weather for your adventures. We can't always pick which direction we do the trail but at least with the rail trails the gradients are usually gentle.
DeleteReally enjoying your blog, thanks Kath & Russell. Love your photographs, thank you!!!
ReplyDeleteReally keen to hear more about your preparation for this adventure etc when you return to CLUNES…..please!!! Have fun & stay safe 🌺
