DAY 19 - YEA (Rest day)

It was nice to have a quiet rest day after all the excitement of yesterday. We spent the day pottering in the cottage, and ambling through the Yea Wetlands.

We were up fairly early to witness the sunrise over the valley.

We took a few photos in the early morning light, then had a leisurely breakfast.

After breakfast we pootled the 5km back into Yea along the rail trail. We were looking for a local business to support, and ended up supporting the same one as yesterday.

The golden elm above us was shedding its leaves, making for an attractive colour show.

It wasn't far to the Yea Wetlands, a major tourist attraction of the town. We walked our bikes along its paths, reading some of the interpretive signs on the way.

We heard many different birds, and caught glimpses of some of them flitting through the trees. We were able to photograph a few, as well as a swamp wallaby.

Back at the cottage, a rosella was active just outside the door, so we took a few photos before the rain set in.

We spent the rest of the day attending to the bikes, reading, and preparing for the resumption of our tour tomorrow.

It is a lovely area. Yea has lots of interest but as you can see we didn't really need to move from our b and b to get great scenery.

  2. The Howies: Loving the wildlife on your trip. Supporting the local buisnesses looks like heaven on the food scale.

We see kangaroos most days and all sorts of birds, but thankfully no snakes... one of the benefits of travelling in Autumn. We're doing our best to support local businesses by eating and drinking lots...amazing what we can put away when cycling!
