DAY 27 - BEECHWORTH to TANGAMBALANGA

Nicely refreshed after our rest day, we packed up and left Beechworth under sunny skies.
Leaving Beechworth
We found our way to the Beechworth to Yackandandah rail trail, which is an almost-completed extension to the Murray to the Mountains rail trail network. It took us on a well-surfaced path from Beechworth to Yackandandah and on to Osbornes Flat.

We stopped a few times on the way to photograph things we found interesting.
Like this row of letterboxes
And this row of beehives (with a distinguished-looking cyclist in the foreground)
And some cows
In Yackandandah we sat down to a pub lunch, then walked around the town.

The trail on to Osbornes Flat was a lot of fun - lots of twists and turns and ups and downs - through a varied background of farmland, forest and creekside scenery.

There were again a few interesting things to photograph on the way.
Like reflections in a pond - always a favourite
From Osbornes Flat we were on the road to Tangambalanga. We had half- thought that the section from Osbornes Flat to Allans Flat might have been flat. It wasn't.
Scenic, but not flat
We kept riding through Kiewa and Tangambalanga to our b&b in the country.

  1. The Howies: What a wonderful time to ride in Victoria, so many wonderful Autumn experiences. Can't wait to join you for a few days, not sure we can handle the cold mornings though. Perhaps some wine tasting will help 😛

We have had some lovely bright Autumn days recently, although the mornings have been rather chilly. I'm sure wine tasting would help... how early can we start?

  2. As soon as the first winery opens of course.😆
